Delphi suspect, 50, is charged in double homicide of teenage girls killed on a walk in 2017: Cops probe whether someone else was also involved in gruesome murders The man accused of murdering two teenagers out for a hike in 2017 has finally been charged with their deaths. 

Richard Allen, 50, of Delphi, Indiana, was arrested on Friday for the deaths of Libby German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13. He is now charged with two counts of felony homicide. Allen has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held at White County Jail without bond. He is due back in court on January 13, 2023 with a presumptive trial date of March 20, 2023. He is said to not be cooperating with authorities, according to WISHTV. He does not appear to have a prior criminal record and previously worked at the local CVS. 'It's a step in the right direction,' Nicholas McLeland, the Carroll County Prosecutor, said of Allen's arrest at a news conference on Monday. He noted that it was 'disappointing' that the suspect is a local resident, and said he can now bring the evidence against Allen to court in the future trial. But when asked whether anyone else may have been involved in the murders, McLeland simply said: 'We have not closed the door on this case.' It remains unclear what led police to ultimately arrest Allen, as the state police will not be releasing evidence in the case under a court order. A probable cause document has been temporarily sealed, with McLeland saying he requested the documents be sealed due to 'extra scrutiny' associated with the case and to protect the integrity of the investigation. 'The investigation is far from complete, and we will not jeopardize its integrity by releasing information before it's time,' said Doug Carter, the superintendent of the Indiana State Police. 'If you choose to be critical of our silence, be critical of me, not the frontline,' he said. 'These are folks who have devoted their entire lives to a conclusion — in other words, a guilty verdict.' But Allen has long been presumed to be the unidentified man seen approaching German and Williams, when they were crossing the Monon High Bridge in the woods outside Delphi in February 2017. The bridge is located just a few miles from his home — which is also just a half-mile from the middle school the two teens attended. Libby had shared a snap of herself walking along the railroad tracks on the day of her murder, with the Snapchat updates causing a sensation that made the case one of the United States' most notorious unsolved murders. The girls' bloodied bodies were found about a half mile from the bridge. Following the news on Monday, Kelsi German, the sister of Libby German, tweeted: 'We got him.' Source

The man depicted in an old sketch released to the public two years ago is no longer believed to be the person who killed teens Abigail Williams and Liberty German in Delphi, Indiana State Police said. The man in the 2017 sketch was a person of interest in the investigation during that period, police said. Now, that's no longer the case. Investigators believe the man shown in a sketch released during a press conference on Monday "more accurately" represents the person who killed the teens in February 2017, State Police said in a news release on Wednesday. While both sketches were drawn in 2017, police clarified that the renderings are "not the same person." The old sketch shows a man in the age range of 40 to 50 years old, according to police. He appears to be older than the newly released sketch, which appears to depict a much younger man.On Wednesday, police said the man in the second sketch could be in his 20s to late 30s. His appearance could be different, police say, if he has grown facial hair or has longer or shorter hair. "The Delphi community should reflect back on people they know in the community that look similar to the sketch released on April 22," the release said. Source

The tweet sharing a link to an article suggesting the House Speaker's husband left a San Francisco gay bar with David DePape prior to his assault no longer appears on the new Twitter CEO's page — just hours after it was posted. He has now been accused of 'caving into the leftist mob.' Musk had posted the theory in response to a tweet by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in which she claimed that the attack on the 82-year-old was the fault of Republican 'mouthpieces' spreading 'hate and deranged conspiracy theories.' 'There's a tiny possibility there may be more to this story than meets the eye,' the 51-year-old billionaire responded, sharing a link to a story published by an obscure outlet called the Santa Monica Observer. It seemed to have crashed since the story was first highlighted by Musk, with would-be readers receiving an error page reading that the site's webserver, Cloudflare, was 'returning an unknown error' according to Axios. According to the LA Times, the same outlet previously reported that Hillary Clinton died before the 2016 election, and that a body double had been sent to debate Donald Trump. It also claimed that sunlight could treat COVID, and that Kanye West had been appointed to the Trump administration. 

The latest story, which can still be accessed in an online archive, was headlined: 'The Awful Truth: Paul Pelosi Was Drunk Again, And In a Dispute With a Male Prostitute Early Friday Morning.' Author Stan Greene wrote: 'As SF's gay bars closed at 2 am, two gay men met in a bar and went home together. Happens every night in the City by the Bay. Except one of these two men, was married to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. 'I might disappear for telling you the truth. If I do, you'll all know why. But here's what really happened early Friday morning in San Francisco. IMHO 'According to SFPD "RP [Reporting Person] stated that there’s a male in the home and that he’s going to wait for his wife. South Korea: Pope prays for people killed in crush at Halloween event 

Pope Francis expresses his sorrow for the over 150 people killed at a Halloween street party in Seoul, South Korea’s capital, as the country’s Catholic Bishops call for a thorough investigation into the causes. At least 153 people are dead and another 82 are injured after being crushed and trampled at a Halloween street party in Seoul, most of whom were young people who suffocated to death. Speaking on Sunday at the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis turned his thoughts to the tragedy in the South Korean capital. “Let us pray to the Risen Lord for all those—mostly young people—who died last night in Seoul from the tragic consequences of a sudden crowd stampede.”

‘Preventable’ tragedy

Video posted to social media from Saturday night’s tragedy showed people crying out from within a crowd. A few people were seen grasping at walls, trying to lift themselves out of the crush. When some people fell, others walked over them. The disaster was not apparent at first. Loud music continued playing as bodies lay on the road. It happened in the nightclub district of Itaewon in Seoul. The victims were mostly young people. The head of the local fire department said the victims had been attending a Halloween gathering. It is unclear why the crush occurred, but eyewitnesses said there was little or no crowd control. Revellers kept arriving and pushing into streets that were already full. South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol called it a “tragedy that should not have happened.” He said South Koreans will mark a week of mourning.

Bishops’ call for investigation

In a written statement, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Korea said South Koreans must “break the cycle of injustice and irresponsibility that has become a common practice in this society.” “To do that, we must first be faithful to our respective roles,” the Bishops said. “Authorities must thoroughly examine the cause and process of this tragedy, and ensure that irresponsibility and oblivion are not repeated.” The bishops added that it is important to ensure there are “no further sacrifices” from people, especially young people. “Human life and dignity are the most precious values, and nothing in our society can take precedence over it.” The death toll is the worst in South Korea since the sinking of an overloaded ferry eight years ago. In that disaster, 304 people died, many of them school children. But it led to a tightening of maritime transport regulations.  Source

At least 60 dead, many more injured after bridge collapse in India: report 

More than 60 people are reportedly dead, and many others are injured after a bridge collapsed in India on Sunday. The bridge, located in the western Indian state of Gujarat, had been constructed in the 19th century. It was closed to for renovations for months up until its reopening last week, according to Reuters. The bridge extends more than 750 feet across body of water. Local officials say they brought pumps to lower the water level under the bridge to facilitate the recovery of bodies. The cause of the suspension bridge collapse remains unclear, but local media has speculated it may have been overloaded. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has "asked that the situation be closely and continuously monitored and extend all possible help to those affected," his office wrote in a statement. Source

His target was Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Instead, Depape found her husband of 59 years. He confronted Paul Pelosi, yelling: 'Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?.' Depape tried to tie up Paul Pelosi 'until Nancy got home.' When police arrived, the suspect told them: 'We're waiting for Nancy,' CNN reported. San Francisco Police Chief William Scott indicated there was some type of confrontation between the two men involving a hammer. But it was unclear who the hammer belonged to - if Depape brought it with him or if Paul Pelosi had it for defensive reasons. Scott said when his officers entered the home, they 'observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer. The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Three dead as gunman opens fire on random motorists in Spain: Shooter kills farmer before he is shot dead in police gun battle that also claimed an officer's life 

Three people have died and at least three others including two police officers have been injured in a shooting in Spain. A farmer, a police officer, and the gunman himself were killed in the attack which took place in the town of Villamayor de Calatrava, central Spain, around 10.30am. The three wounded are two other police officers and the shooter's 81-year-old father, who had tried to flee the scene of the attack. The shooting is thought to have begun as a row between the elder man and his son in the early hours of Wednesday, before the younger man grabbed a rifle. The father is thought to have fled their country house and sought help from a local farmer, who his son shot and killed.The shooting rampage was eventually brought to an end after a police marksman opened fire and killed the attacker. Villamayor de Calatrava mayor Juan Antonio Callejas said the road had been closed before the incident was resolved because someone “was shooting at all the cars” in an area he described as being full of holiday homes. It is not clear exactly what the gunman and his father had been arguing about or how he obtained the rifle used in the killings. Investigations are now underway. Source

After a two-minute gun battle, the suspect was reported down, Sack told reporters at a news conference. Authorities did not immediately identify the victims, but Sack said a 61-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a hospital and a 16-year-old girl was killed at the scene. The commissioner identified the gunman as Orlando Harris, a 19-year-old who graduated from the school last year. He died at a hospital, Sack said. Authorities are working to “try and come up with what might have led him to this. There’s suspicion, there may be some mental illness that he was experiencing. We are working on developing that information right now,” Sack said. The shooter had no prior criminal history. Seven other teenagers were hurt and went to the hospital, Sack said. Some had gunshot or graze wounds and some had abrasions. One had a fractured ankle. They are all in stable conditions, the commissioner said. The commissioner said the gunman had a long gun and around a dozen 30-round ammunition magazines with him. Sack would not say how the gunman entered the school but said the school doors were locked, which delayed the suspect and bought responding officers time. “The security staff did an outstanding job identifying the suspect’s efforts to enter and immediately notified other staff and ensured that we were contacted,” Sack said. There were security guards at the school at the time of the shooting, according to St. Louis Public Schools Communications Director George Sells. “We had the seven personnel working in the building who did a wonderful job getting the alarm sounded quickly. So that response, that fast response, could happen both from the police and also from our response teams who were among the first on the scene as well. Hu Jintao, 79, appeared reluctant to be escorted from the front row of proceedings at Beijing's Great Hall of the People - where he was sitting next to President Xi Jinping. Footage showed a steward trying to take Hu - who was China's leader from 2003 to 2013 - by the arm before being shaken off. The steward then attempted to lift the frail former president up with both hands from under the armpits. After a tense exchange of about a minute, in which Hu spoke briefly with Xi and Premier Li Keqiang, he was led out of the hall. Xi, who is expected to be reinstated for a third term on Sunday, was filmed holding papers down on the desk as Hu tried to grab them. Hu patted Li's shoulder as he left, as most of his colleagues stared firmly ahead during the bizarre exchange. His sudden exit was left unexplained - and China's censors appeared to quickly scrub any recent references to him from the internet. But former diplomat Roger Garside said the manoeuvre was likely a "show of power" from Xi and branded the incident "starkly humiliating". This is the moment bystanders caught a an alleged knifeman yesterday after a woman was repeatedly stabbed on a busy London street. Brave members of the public chased the man after he stabbed a woman in her 30s who was pushing a buggy along Edgware Road in the city's west at around 9am. Witnesses described builders jumping out of a van and pedestrians running to the women's rescue and taking her to safety in a nearby M&S café, where she received medical treatment before being taken to hospital. And others intervened by allegedly throwing chairs and other objects to apprehend the attacker, who tried to flee the scene. Detectives today have charged Waleed Ali, 54, of no fixed address, with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place. Footage has emerged showing a man bloodied and dazed being detained after brave witnesses intervened. The man is seen with a gash to his forehead and the back of his head as he is lifted from the ground to a seated position by a police officer. Ali will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow. The woman was taken to hospital with stab wounds. Her condition was assessed as not life-threatening. Police say they have a person of interest in custody in the murders of four people inside a Dale City home Monday afternoon. The case appears to be domestic.Police were called to the 5200 block of Mansfield Court just after 4:30 p.m. to investigate a shooting and arrived to find the house unsecured. Inside, officers located two men and two women in different parts of the house suffering from gunshot wounds, Prince William County police 1st Sgt. Jonathan Perok said. All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities will be released once confirmed and a next-of-kin has been notified.Perok said the incident appears isolated to the home and there is no ongoing threat to the community. A weapon was recovered. BERLIN -- Two people were killed and another seriously wounded in a stabbing Tuesday in southwestern Germany, police said. The suspected assailant was detained. Police said that they were alerted to the stabbing in a suburb of the city of Ludwigshafen on Tuesday afternoon. The 25-year-old suspect, a Somali citizen, initially fled the scene and was detained in a drugstore. Officers used their firearms in the process and he was seriously injured, but not in life-threatening condition, police said. Neither the names of the victims nor of the perpetrator were given, in line with German privacy policy. The numbers “1” and “0” were imprinted across her chest, which police said could have been placed by a “device”, according to sources cited by French broadcaster BFMTV. Footage from the CCTV cameras of the building where she stayed with her parents, Delphine and Johan Daviet, showed her walking in the front door with an unknown woman, just moments before her death. Lola can be seen dressed in a white outfit and carrying what appears to be a school bag. The footage was accessed by her parents when they were looking for details about their missing daughter. Lola’s mother wrote on Facebook that their daughter was “last seen in the company of a girl we don’t know, in our residence”. The woman spotted with her is the same person who was later seen carrying the suitcase by witnesses, according to their statements quoted by French media. The schoolgirl was found tied up inside the plastic suitcase near her home with the numbers '1' and '0' imprinted on her chest, and then left in the inner courtyard of a building in the French capital's north-east. CCTV footage had emerged showing both the alleged killer and her victim next to the block of flats where Lola lived with her middle-class parents who owned properties across northern France. Lola's mutilated body was later found near the building, in the city's 19th arrondissement, where she lived with her parents Delphine and Johan. 'The suspect had boasted about selling body parts,' said an investigating source. 'Evidence suggests that the girl was taken into the basement of the flat, where she was tortured, and raped, before being strangled and having her throat cut.' Connecticut man who ambushed and killed a pair of Bristol cops after faking 911 call - while neighbors describe him as a 'rowdy, divorced dad-of-two' that was 'always drinking' 

The man accused of placing a fake 911 call to ambush and kill two police officers is seen in newly revealed pictures, as neighbors called him 'rowdy' and 'always drinking.' Nicholas Brutcher, who allegedly fired on the officers before being killed in the ensuing shootout, is seen toting guns in the surfaced Facebook pictures. The pictures show Brutcher and his brother, Nathan, who was shot and injured at the scene, happily holding handguns and rifles at a wedding and in the wilderness. Brutcher shot officers Alex Hamzy, 34, and Dustin Demonte, 35, when he shot at them with an AR-15-style rifle. 26-year-old Alec Iurato was also injured. According to reports, Nicholas was kicked out of a bar earlier in the night before placing the phony 911 call around 10.30pm on Wednesday. Neighbors said the divorced dad of two was 'always drinking,' and that he'd often be around checking on his brother Nathaniel. Another neighbor described Nathaniel as a 'skater punk' and 'man-child' who was constantly under the influence and did little to get his life together.

'Nate is high as a kite every time I see him. But cocaine doesn’t drive you to call cops and shoot them,' he said. The neighbors also spoke of the Brutcher's family, which includes their mom and dad, two brothers and an adopted sister. 'Their mother must be a wreck right now,' a neighbor told the New York Post. 'She’s also crazier than a f**king bag of chips.' The neighbor added the Brutcher's father has 'got a really good heart. He’s been taking care of their mother and those boys for years. That dude’s a strong man.' Police say the preceding 911 was 'a deliberate act to lure law enforcement to the scene.' It has not been announced who opened fire, who fired the fatal shots and how many guns were used in the encounter. It is unclear if Nathaniel also shot at officers or was a bystander or a victim. Nicholas was shot dead at the scene while Nathan was wounded and hospitalized. His condition is unknown. It comes as dozens of cops headed to the scene to line the roads to pay their respects to the fallen officers. One witness, Danny Rodriguez, said he heard three sets of gunshots and 30 shots in total. 

He says he heard another woman yelling out during the shooting: 'you killed them!' 'I heard a whole war going on behind me,' Rodriguez said, according to KOCO. According to the New York Times, Rodriguez saw a man dressed in camouflage leaving the Brutcher home with a rifle. Another man followed and attempted to restrain the camouflaged man before he was shot. Jeltema said state troopers and detectives are still gathering evidence and the 'very complex' investigation is ongoing. She added that it was an 'isolated incident' with 'no threat to the community' during a press conference. Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould added that the deaths were as a result of 'senseless violence' which has brought the force 'sadness and grief.' 'They answered a call to duty, and they responded without hesitation, and that's what they did every night before that,' Gould said. The family of a twenty-three-year-old girl are heartbroken after she was one of ten people who lost their lives yesterday in a massive explosion at a petrol station in Ireland.

Court documents exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com reveal that Guatemalan alleged undocumented migrant Yoni Barrios, 32, was charged in 2019 with criminal domestic violence by Los Angeles district attorney Jackie Lacey, who has since left office. Had he been convicted, Barrios would likely have been imprisoned and deported and would not have been free to commit the senseless slaughter on the Vegas strip this week.But Lacey failed to bring the case to court in time, and after 90 days elapsed the judge was forced to dismiss the case under California speedy trial laws, court records say. Barrios was also prosecuted for driving dangerously and without a license in Riverside, California in 2016. After his arrest on Thursday Barrios told detectives he was from Guatemala and wanted ICE to take him home, according to a report released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Sources at the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News they believed he is an undocumented migrant, and does not have a visa. A criminal docket for Barrios obtained by DailyMail.com shows he was charged in July 2019 with criminally injuring a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent in an act of domestic violence. If charged as a felony, perpetrators can be sentenced to up to four years in prison. Barrios’ docket says the alleged incident occurred on August 18, 2018. Lacey filed the case a year later, but the first pre-trial hearing was left until more than two years later on April 8 2021. Source

Five-year-old gone who had gone to petrol station shop to buy her mother a birthday cake is believed to be one of nine killed in Irish 'gas blast' along with her father, a mother and her young son 

A mother and her young son are feared to be among at least nine people killed following a massive explosion at a petrol station in Ireland. They had been inside the shop at the Applegreen service station in Creeslough, County Donegal, when a suspected gas blast tore through the building. The mum and son had called in to the shop just after school had finished, locals told MailOnline today. Another victim of the explosion, which destroyed an apartment complex attached to the shop, is said to be a local farmer in his 60s. Hero villagers in Creeslough formed a human chain to try and remove debris from the destroyed petrol station shop and rescue some of those trapped inside. They managed to free one badly injured girl, aged in her mid-teens, but were unable to reach her friend. Shouts for help were heard coming from the rubble of the building but the threat of further collapse and the presence of gas forced the rescuers back. One man, who arrived at the scene within ten-minutes, but declined to be named as he was still raw with shock said: 'It was pure panic and chaos but a kind of organised chaos. 

'There was debris everywhere, big blocks of concrete all in the road. 'The petrol station forecourt was buried under rubble where the building had collapsed and there was still bits falling down. 'I could see the body of a man on the forecourt. I checked his pulse but there was nothing. 'We could hear shouts of 'help' coming from the people trapped inside. There was a man's voice and woman's voice. 'About ten of us formed a human chain and were lifting blocks of concrete and other debris and passing it down the line to try and reach those trapped. 'We got one young girl out. She looked to be around 15 or 16-years of age and was quite badly injured, she had a lot of blood on her face. 'She could walk but was very shaky and she kept on saying 'my friend is still in there'. 'We did all we could but there was just too much rubble to remove, it was back-breaking work, and it looked as though the building was going to collapse some more. 'The Gardai and fire crews arrived and moved everyone away from the scene for their own safety.' One woman who lived nearby said: 'I heard an almighty bang and came out to see what had happened. 'It was carnage, that's the only way to describe it, a few lads had rushed in to pull away debris and try and get to people trapped inside, but it was a dangerous situation. Source

Yoni Christian Barrios, 32, who is charged with murdering two and attempting to kill six more on Thursday, told detectives that he is a Guatemalan immigrant and that he stabbed eight people so he could 'let the anger out.' Fox News says Barrios was in the US illegally at the time, and that he had a criminal record in California for unknown offenses. He was not known to ICE prior to the stabbing, the outlet added. Maris Mareen Digiovanni, 30, and Brent Allan Hallett, 47, both died after being stabbed in the attack that happened in broad daylight. On Friday, a co-worker of showgirl Digiovanni also revealed that she bled out in a co-worker's arms after being fatally-knifed.

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrest report first obtained by Channel 8 News said Barrios came from California to Vegas two days earlier and planned to move in with a friend, but when he arrived the friend backed out. Barrios told detectives he took a bus to the strip, where other passengers made fun of him and he ‘wasn’t treated like a human being.’ According to the report, Barrios asked a janitor at the Wynn Hotel and Casino about job opportunities, then asked the janitor to contact ICE for him so he could return home to Guatemala. Barrios then asked a security guard at the hotel about selling his knives to pay for his trip home, officers wrote. The guard told Barrios to ‘jump in front of a train.’ Barrios exited the hotel and it was then that he approached his first victims. The police report says he told a group of four showgirls that he was a chef. As one woman backed away from him, he allegedly charged at her. Source
