Sierra Leone explosion: Scores dead after Freetown oil tanker collision
At least 98 people have died after a massive explosion when a fuel tanker collided with a lorry in Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown.
Fuel spilled before igniting and the resulting inferno engulfed bystanders and vehicles at a busy junction.
Footage broadcast by local media outlets showed badly charred bodies in the streets surrounding the tanker.
After visiting the scene, Vice-President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh said it was a "national disaster".
He said that the injured would receive free medical treatment.
Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr described seeing "harrowing" photos.
Some 92 people are being treated in hospitals and health centres around Freetown, some of which are said to be overwhelmed.
The explosion is believed to have happened at a junction outside the busy Choithram Supermarket in the densely populated Wellington suburb in the east of the city at around 22:00 GMT on Friday.
Sierra Leone's National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) said the vehicles collided when the tanker was entering a nearby filling station to discharge its fuel.
The drivers, noticing a leak, exited their the vehicles and warned people to stay away. The explosion occurred when people tried to collect the fuel, the NDMA said. Source

BULGARIA BUS CRASH
46 DEAD
Bulgaria: at least 46 killed in bus crash
At least 46 people, including 12 children, died early on Monday morning after a bus crashed on a motorway in Bulgaria. The bus, registered in north Macedonia, was travelling from Turkey to Macedonia when it crashed and caught fire some 40 km south of Sofia.
Bulgarian Police chief Stanimir Stanev confirmed that there were 52 people on board. Of these, 7 survived and were hospitalised with severe burns.
The accident
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined. The bus overturned after hitting the guardrail, but it is not yet clear whether it caught fire before or after.
Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani told reporters the coach party had been returning to the capital Skopje from a weekend holiday trip to the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The survivor's escape
Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev spoke to one of the survivors, who told him that passengers were sleeping when the sound of an explosion woke them u. "He and the other six survivors broke the windows of the bus and managed to escape and save themselves," Mr Zaev told Bulgarian media.
Bulgaria's interim Prime Minister Stefan Yanev described the incident as "a huge tragedy".
Closeness of Europe's leaders
"Our thoughts are with the victims of the horrific accident in Bulgaria, their families and all frontline workers. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Be strong. The EU is ready to provide support in any way it can," European Council President Charles Michel said on Twitter.
Ursula von der Leyen also wished to express her condolences to the families of the victims . "At this terrible moment, Europe stands in solidarity with you," the EU Commission President said. Source

At least 27 migrants killed attempting to cross the English channel
France and Britain have vowed to step up cooperation to stop illegal crossings after at least 27 migrants died off the coast of Calais on Wednesday. The victims included a pregnant woman, three children whilst four other people are missing, presumed drowned. The accident is the worst tragedy of its kind in the Channel involving migrants trying to reach England by small boats. SH reports.
The sinking of the inflatable dinghy off the coast of Calais comes as record numbers of migrants have attempted to cross the Channel in flimsy boats from France to Britain this year. It’s a perilous crossing as the narrow strait of water is the world’s busiest shipping lane and also has strong sea currents. The French authorities say five suspected human traffickers have been arrested on suspicion of being linked to Wednesday’s deadly sinking.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was shocked and appalled by the tragedy while French President Emmanuel Macron said France will not allow the Channel to become a cemetery. The two leaders spoke on the phone after the sinking and agreed on the urgency of stepping up joint efforts to prevent these deadly crossings. They said they needed to work closely with Belgium and the Netherlands as well as others across Europe. Macron and Johnson said the tragic loss of life was a stark reminder that it is vital to break the business model of the criminal gangs behind the crossings.
But the two nations have also traded blame over this tragedy. The British government has once again accused France of not doing enough to stop the migrants from crossing over the Channel in the first place while the French Interior Ministry has criticised Britain’s less stringent immigration system that makes it easier for migrants with no legal papers to find work.
Some observers say this was a tragedy that was all too predictable given the perilous nature of these Channel crossings and the rapid rise in the number of desperate migrants making the journey in flimsy boats. Over 25,000 people have reached the British coast in small boats this year which is more than three times the total for the whole of 2020. And there’s no likelihood of an early stop to this trend. Despite Wednesday’s deadly sinking and the bitterly cold weather, dozens of migrants continued to cross over from France to Britain on Thursday. Source

Russia: Death toll in Siberian coal mine blast raised to 52
MOSCOW (AP) — A devastating explosion in a Siberian coal mine Thursday left 52 miners and rescuers dead about 250 meters (820 feet) underground, Russian officials said.
Hours after a methane gas explosion and fire filled the mine with toxic fumes, rescuers found 14 bodies but then were forced to halt the search for 38 others because of a buildup of methane and carbon monoxide gas from the fire. Another 239 people were rescued.
The state Tass and RIA-Novosti news agencies cited emergency officials as saying that there was no chance of finding any more survivors in the Listvyazhnaya mine, in the Kemerovo region of southwestern Siberia.
The Interfax news agency cited a representative of the regional administration who also put the death toll from Thursday's accident at 52, saying they died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
It was the deadliest mine accident in Russia since 2010, when two methane explosions and a fire killed 91 people at the Raspadskaya mine in the same Kemerovo region.
A total of 285 people were in the Listvyazhnaya mine early Thursday when the blast sent smoke that quickly filled the mine through the ventilation system. Rescuers led to the surface 239 miners, 49 of whom were injured, and found 11 bodies.
Later in the day, six rescuers also died while searching for others trapped in a remote section of the mine, the news reports said.

Moment Ford SUV plowed into Wisconsin Holiday parade sending 'bodies flying everywhere' and leaving at least 20 people severely injured: Police recover vehicle and 'are aware of a person of interest'
A car traveling at high speed plowed into a holiday parade in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin, killing one person and leaving at least 30 people injured, among them several elderly women who were part of a 'Dancing Grannies' float and members of a schoolgirls' dance team, according to reports.
Terrifying video posted to social media shows a speeding red SUV collide into a group of people marching in the middle of the street during the annual holiday parade in Waukesha, some 20 miles west of downtown Milwaukee.
Another video shows the speeding SUV narrowly miss a young girl who was dancing in the street as the out-of-control vehicle drove by just feet away. There were also unconfirmed reports of shots fired. The chief of police said that the red SUV has been recovered, though there was no word as to whether a suspect was in custody as of 7pm Eastern time on Sunday.
At around 7:15pm local time, the Waukesha Police Department sent a push alert to cell phones of residents in the area asking them to shelter in place 'within a half-mile radius of the 5 points downtown.'
'We have a person of interest that we are looking into at this time,' Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson told reporters. Thompson said that the SUV rammed into the crowd at 4:39pm local time - 39 minutes after the parade started.
The incident comes just two days after Kyle Rittenhouse, the accused Kenosha shooter, was acquitted of murder charges in the deaths of two men during the unrest that erupted last year in the wake of a police shooting of a black man.
The Rittenhouse acquittal, which stoked division along political and racial lines, prompted local and national authorities to place security forces on high alert. Source

Boris Johnson today urged the country to be 'vigilant' as he raised the UK's terror threat level to 'severe' after a suicide bomber targeted the Liverpool Women's Hospital and it was claimed the attacker who blew himself up in a taxi on Remembrance Sunday settled in the UK from the Middle East several years ago and was not known to MI5.
Mr Johnson hosted a COBRA meeting at Downing Street this afternoon where experts from police and the security services advised him that another attack on British soil is now 'highly likely' after the cab bombing on Merseyside and David Amess' murder in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, four weeks ago.
Speaking at a Covid-19 press conference, the Prime Minister said the blast was a 'stark reminder' to the public to remain vigilant, adding: 'What yesterday showed above all is that the British people will never be cowed by terrorism, we will never give in to those who seek to divide us with senseless acts of violence. And our freedoms and our way of life will always prevail.'
Home Secretary Priti Patel added: 'The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) is now increasing the UK threat level from substantial to severe. There is a reason for this, it's because the incident we saw yesterday was the second in a month.' Before today's change, the UK's terror threat level had been at 'substantial' since February 4.
The suspect, who is believed to have built his bomb at home in Liverpool, is understood to have settled in Britain from the Middle East several years ago, security sources said. MI5 spies were not aware of him before yesterday's bombing, MailOnline understands. Britain's security services are said to be working with counter-terrorism police to confirm whether it was an Islamist-inspired attack.
Today a witness filmed armed officers scaling the rear wall of a Kensington terraced house with a ladder after the address was linked to the suicide bomber who blew himself up in a taxi outside a maternity hospital on Remembrance Sunday. The taxi blast was also captured on CCTV, which also emerged today, while the driver David Perry, who managed to escape alive, has been branded a hero after apparently locking the doors to stop him entering the hospital.
Officers are still searching two addresses - one in Sutcliffe Street and a second at Rutland Avenue in Sefton Park, where 'significant items', believed to include bomb making equipment, have been found.
Three men aged 21, 26 and 29 were arrested yesterday under S41 of the Terrorism Act at a terraced house Sutcliffe Street, Liverpool. This morning, again in the Kensington area, a further man aged 20 was arrested on suspicion of the same terror offence when he returned home to the same property.
Investigators have 'attributed' the bomber to both the addresses but police are not yet sure where he lived, and last night at 9.45pm anti-terror officers forced their way into the front and back of the Sutcliffe Street house as they tried to establish if he was a lone wolf or part of a cell. In deleted posts seen by The Sun, dancers are filmed surrounded by cash at Area 29 in Houston, which was set to host the official after party for Travis Scott's event, and the club thanked Drake personally for attending on Saturday.The rapper and his crew are believed to have been staying at the five star Post Oak Hotel, where Scott and pregnant girlfriend Kylie Jenner had also been spotted before the festival.
Scott and Kylie have since been laying low at the pair's $14million mansion in Houston, where lawyers have been seen visiting in recent days - as more than 100 suits have been filed against the performer and organizer

A school board president in Arizona has been accused of maintaining a secret online dossier containing personal details about parents who opposed mask mandates and Critical Race Theory.
Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board President Jann-Michael Greenburg's access to the Google Drive file was revealed after he accidentally displayed the link in a screenshot he sent to a parent in a heated email chain.
The drive contained files labeled 'SUSD Wackos' and 'Anti Mask Lunatics' among others in a sprawling database tracking the online activities of parents in the district.
The drive was set to public, allowing anyone with a link to view it, and the contents, including the Social Security numbers, financial information and divorce records of parents, quickly set off a firestorm of calls for Greenburg to resign, according to AZ Free News. A spokeswoman for SUSD did not immediately respond to an inquiry from DailyMail.com on Thursday night.
The unusual affair is just one example of the increasing tensions between parents and school leadership across the country, with passions running high over a range of issues from curriculum and reopening to mask and vaccine mandates.
The existence of the Scottsdale dossier first came to light in August, when Jann-Michael Greenburg apparently sent a screenshot of a Facebook conversation to area resident Kim Stafford, accusing her of anti-Jewish sentiment. Source

Jesus replies to John: “let all righteousness be fulfilled” (cf. Mt 3:15). To baptize a child is an act of justice towards them. Why? Because at Baptism we offer a treasure, at Baptism we offer a pledge: the Holy Spirit. Baptism endows the child with the strength of the Holy Spirit: the Spirit that will defend and assist each of them throughout life. This is why it is so important to baptize them when they are little, so that they may grow with the strength of the Holy Spirit.
This is the message that I would like to give you today. You have brought your children today [so that they may receive] the Holy Spirit within them. And make sure that they develop in the light, with the strength of the Holy Spirit through catechesis, assistance, education and your example at home.... This is the message.
I do not want to say anything more important than this. Only some advice. Children are not accustomed to come to the Sistine chapel. It is their first time! They are not used to being closed in an environment that is also a bit stifling. And they are not used to being dressed like this, for a feast day as beautiful as today. They will feel a bit uncomfortable at times. And one will start [to cry]... — the concert has yet to begin! — but one will start then another ... Do not be alarmed: let your children cry and scream. Rather, if your child cries and complains, perhaps it is because it feels too hot: remove something; or because it is hungry: breastfeed him, here, yes, always comfortably. Something I also said last year: they have a “choral” dimension: it is enough for one of them to start to “sing” and everyone follows and there will be a concert. Do not be alarmed. A record-breaking 105 US children have died from flu so far this season
It has been an "unusual" flu season with a higher proportion of children and young adults affected than the older population, according to Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The earlier prevalence of influenza B -- a flu strain that tends to be more common in children -- could be a reason why more children were affected, Schaffner said. Also, as the number of influenza B cases decreased, the number of H1N1 cases increased, he said. H1N1 is a subtype of the influenza A strain, which also affects children more than adults.
"This is the first time in 25 years where [influenza B] became so common so early," said Dr. Buddy Creech, an associate professor of pediatric infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Neither Schaffner nor Creech know why this year's influenza timeline is so different.

British Funeral Director: Dead Babies Are Piling Up in Morgues
During an interview with Resistance GB, Wesley, who has been a funeral director for over three years, speaks about his experience throughout the so-called “pandemic” and what he’s been seeing in the morgues in recent times. He says he’s currently seeing untold numbers of dead babies and new-borns in cold storage and piling up in mortuaries waiting for their funerals.
The unprecedented numbers of babies that he and other morticians are dealing with are matched only by the excessive number of younger people in their 30s and 40s who have been dying since the Covid injection rolled out, he says.
When the pandemic first began the mortuaries saw a flurry of deaths which, in a few months, calmed down, even though media continued to hype Covid deaths. There was an uptick in suicides in the summer of 2020 in mostly younger men, but when autumn 2020 came, everything was rather quiet.
And then, he said, “Come January [2021] the numbers were going through the roof … and that’s since people were being vaccinated.” Now he’s having the most funerals he’s ever seen in a period of two weeks, and in younger people, he’s averaging about 12 “in one go,” when before the Covid injection he would see only “four or five funerals going, not 12, and not all in that age group.”
And now, he says, what he’s seeing is a lot of new-born babies … “really high, about 30” when he’s used to seeing only three or four. In other words, about 10 times the number of new born babies are dying than he normally would see — so many they’re having to keep them in the adult section, where there’s more room. “Obviously they’re either miscarried or full-term births, but not a lot is being said about it,” he says.
To put the causes of deaths in perspective, he says he’s only had one Covid death this year. All the rest are myocarditis, infarctions (heart attacks) and some pneumonia. He also notes that “anybody and everybody” who died when the pandemic started was marked as Covid on their death certificates, but that’s not happening since the Covid injection was introduced. Bomb threats at Columbia, Cornell, Brown prompt police investigations
MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) -- Bomb threats sparked investigations at several Ivy League schools, including Columbia University, on Sunday.
Cornell, Brown and Columbia University all issued statements saying they were investigating bomb threats. Columbia says a campus-wide emergency alert was issued after receiving threats at university buildings. According to Columbia Spectator, Carman Hall, Lerner Hall, and Butler Hall were evacuated Sunday afternoon.
Police say someone called and said they wanted $10,000 or they would blow up the building.
Columbia Spectator reported that the school notified students that police had concluded their investigation and all three aforementioned buildings had been swept and were being reopened.
Meanwhile, Brown University said in a statement, "the Department of Public Safety evacuated several buildings near the university's college green" after receiving a bomb threat by phone.
At Cornell University, students and faculty were told to evacuate several areas on the Ithaca campus. Source

CORNELL University law school has supposedly received a "bomb threat" after the law school posted an urgent Twitter warning to evacuate their campus.
At about 2.20pm ET, New York's Cornell University sent out a tweet informing people to evacuate and avoid certain areas on the campus in Ithaca, New York.
The tweet read: "CornellALERT: EVACUATE AND AVOID THE LAW SCHOOL,GOLDWIN SMITH, UPSON HALL AND KENNEDY HALL PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CORNELL POLICE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY".
A second tweet followed, stating: "CornellALERT: Ithaca Campus Evacuate and avoid the law school, Goldwin Smith, Upson Hall and Kennedy Hall."
The reasoning behind the alert is unclear. At 3PM ET, the university posted an alert for the Ithaca campus. Avoid central campus. Evacuate areas in or nearby the Law School, Goldwin Smith, Upson Hall and Kennedy Hall. Source

Knifeman wounds three in attack on high-speed German train: Police arrest 27-year-old suspect
A knifeman has wounded three people on a high-speed train in Germany.
Police said they received a call about the attack at around 9am local time on Saturday as the high-speed ICE train travelled between Regensburg and Nuremberg.
One person has been arrested and three people were injured. Bild, the German mass daily newspaper, said the knifer attacker was a 27-year-old man of Arab origin. He is said to have had psychological problems and also called for help on the train.
Investigators are currently ruling out a terrorist connection. The attack happened near Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate, and the train was stopped at Seubersdorf, southeast of Nuremberg.
German media reported that two deployment trains of special forces of the Bavarian police were on their way to a football game in Regensburg and were in the area at the time of the attack.
The Upper Palatinate Police Headquarters is currently on site and forensics are on the ICE to secure evidence.
Around 200 people were removed from the train and taken to a local restaurant for refreshments, according to German broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said the background behind the 'terrible' attack was 'still unclear' and is 'now being clarified.' He said people in in Seubersdorf faced no 'acute danger.'
In a statement, he said: 'The cruel knife attack on the ICE is terrible. I hope that the injured and those who witnessed what happened will recover quickly and completely. Source

Source Claims Someone Was Injecting Victims with Drugs
A source connected to Astroworld tells TMZ, someone in the crowd went crazy and began injecting people with some sort of drug, which caused panic and then a surge. The source says authorities are trying to determine if those who went into cardiac arrest were the ones injected. We're told one of those who died is a 10-year-old. The source says it appears to be a targeted attack. We have not confirmed this report, but the source is a key person involved in the festival. Source

Eight people were killed and several more injured in a stampede during a sold-out hip-hop music festival in Houston, Texas, the fire department said.
Ambulances and firefighters were called in after multiple injuries were reported on the opening night of the Astroworld Music Festival.
“We have eight confirmed fatalities at this point,” Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena told reporters, adding that overall, 23 people were transported from the scene.
“The crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage, and people began to panic,” Pena said.

HOUSTON (AP) — At least eight people died and numerous others were injured in what officials described as a surge of the crowd at the Astroworld music festival in Houston while rapper Travis Scott was performing.
Officials declared a “mass casualty incident” just after 9 p.m. Friday during the festival where an estimated 50,000 people were in attendance, Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña told reporters at a news conference.
“The crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, and that caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries,” the fire chief said. “People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic.”
The show was called off shortly thereafter. The fire chief said “scores of individuals” were injured.
Officials transported 17 people to hospitals, including 11 who were in cardiac arrest, Peña said. Many people were also treated at the scene at NRG Park, where a field hospital had been set up. About 300 people were examined at that site throughout the day, he said.
Astroworld is a two-day music festival that was scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday in Houston. The event was sold out, according to the Astroworld website. Saturday’s performances have been canceled. Source

FBI searches Project Veritas personnel in investigation into Ashley Biden’s stolen diary
The FBI has conducted multiple searches of people tied to the conservative political group Project Veritas, part of a probe into how parts of President Biden’s daughter Ashley’s diary were disclosed to the public without her consent in the final days of the 2020 election.
Justice Department agents conducted two searches on Thursday in the New York City area, The New York Times reported, citing two unnamed sources with familiarity in the matter.
In October, Ms Biden reported multiple personal items stolen in a burglary to federal authorities, including the diary.
A conservative website later published dozens of its handwritten pages.
Project Veritas, a right-wing group known for its use of undercover video recordings, maintains it is an investigative media outlet, while a federal judge ruled in October it wasn’t out of line for the subjects of one such sting to call the group a “political spying operation.”

Two UK Teenagers Die Suddenly From Covid Vaccine In One Week: Harry Towers and Mohammed Habib Attended St John Fisher Catholic College

The boys are not 10 and 11 but were in grade 10 and 11 therefore they were 14 to 16 years old.
In the UK the Vaccine is given to children starting at age 12.
School in mourning after two pupils die suddenly in one week
Harry Towers and Mohammed Habib passed away during October half-term and were both remembered in prayers during an online assembly on Tuesday. St John Fisher Catholic College in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, has ensured support is available for its grieving students and staff. Harry, who was in year 11, died on Saturday October 30, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.
He was described as a popular teenager with "care and compassion".
Garrett Murray, acting headteacher at the school, said: "Harry approached life with a wonderful sense of humour and showed such care and compassion towards all those that he encountered. Harry was popular and loved by all his peers, teachers and pastoral staff. He will be deeply missed by all in our school community."
And Mohammed, a year 10 pupil, died on Sunday October 24.
Paying tribute, Mr Murray said: "Mohammed was devout in his faith. His charitable nature will be sorely missed by all in the community.
"In his quiet way, Habib always looked out for others in need and was ready to support and help them. He will be deeply missed by all in our school community."
The school, which caters for around 1,100 pupils, has offered both families its condolences.
"The school is deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of two of our learners Mohammed Habib and Harry Towers," Mr Murray continued.
"We are praying for them and their families and friends and keeping them in our thoughts at this very difficult time.
"I'm in contact with both families and have offered our deepest condolences and support.
"This will have a large impact on the whole school community and we are ensuring support is available in school for anyone who needs it." Source
