A manhunt is on for the person who fatally shot a young mother in the back of the head in a chilling point-blank execution while pushing her baby in a stroller on the Upper East Side of New York City, just a few yards away from a playground.
The murder occurred at around 8.23pm Wednesday, on a sidewalk at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and 95th Street in the exclusive neighborhood, across the street from a playground filled with children, officials said.
The 20-year-old victim was walking with her three-month-old baby when the hooded shooter approached her and 'fired a single shot into her head from a very close range,' NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell told reporters. City Council member Julie Menin, who represents the area, said on Twitter that the victim was the child´s mother. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family. The baby was not injured, according to NBC New York.
The killer, dressed in a black hoodie and sweatpants, immediately fled on foot heading eastbound on East 95th Street and remains at large, police said.
The Manhattan neighborhood is the most affluent in New York, with average house prices at an eye-watering $1.5million and private school fees exceeding $58,000 per year.
Horrified children at the nearby playground witnessed the horrific shooting, and one girl described hearing a loud 'boom' that she quickly realized was a gunshot.
A 10-year-old girl, who was at the playground with her brother and aunt, told DailyMail.com that she heard an 'extremely loud boom' and saw a woman fall to the sidewalk.
'I was really confused, because I thought maybe this was fireworks. But then I realized that no, this is serious and that there was a gunshot,' the young witness said.
'And it really frightened me because I was right there at the park playing and I never would have ever thought that would happen,' she added.
'I saw a lot of people running, and I saw a woman down there, she fell,' the girl recalled. Source

At least nine patients were being taken to a University of Missouri Health Care hospital in Columbia, Missouri, about 90 miles away, several of them arriving by helicopter.

Florida man, 54, accused of $4.2 million Medicare fraud scheme is arrested after he tried to flee to Cuba on a JET SKI
A Florida man who is being investigated for a $4.2 million Medicare scheme attempted to flee the United States on a jet ski to avoid prosecution and now will remain in prison because he is considered a flight risk.
Ernesto Cruz Graveran, a native of Cuba, was apprehended with an alleged migrant smuggler after the jet ski broke down south of the Florida Keys last Wednesday.
The 54-year-old appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Alicia Otazo-Reyes sided with federal prosecutors and said that Cruz Graveran should not be released on bail. He will be kept in custody at Federal Detention Center in Miami until his trial. According to a criminal complaint, Cruz Graveran's company, Xiko Enterprises Inc., submitted approximately $4.2 million in fraudulent health care claims to Medicare from February to April this year for medical equipment that Xiko never provided and that Medicare beneficiaries never requested. Medicare paid Xiko over $2.1 million.
Cruz Graveran also sought payment for $1 million in claims related to medical equipment that was prescribed to 145 beneficiaries by one doctor.
A worker at the doctor''s office told investigators that the beneficiaries were not patients of the doctor.Federal investigators learned last month that Cruz Graveran was planning to travel to Havana and approached him at his home before his flight May 22, the complaint said.
Cruz Graveran admitted being the 'nominee owner' of the company and that an associate had paid him in order to use his name for the business' records and bank account.
He also acknowledged to signing checks at the request of the associate and that he had also cashed the same checks, which ranged from $60,000 to $90,000, at a check cashing store and delivered the cash to the individual.
Cruz Graveran agreed to cooperate with the criminal investigation and turned over his passport.
However, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers reported finding Cruz Graveran aboard a broken-down jet ski in the waters south of Key West, headed in the direction of Cuba last Wednesday.
The communist island nation is about 90 miles south of the Florida Keys.
Cruz Graveran was aboard the personal watercraft with a person known to law enforcement as a migrant smuggler.
Investigators say the jet ski was outfitted with a special fuel cell for long trips and was carrying extra food and water bottles. Source
Karen Amsden, mom of alleged Patriot Front member and Springville, Utah resident Jared Michael Boyce, said on Monday that her son has struggled to fill “a void” in his life ever since his father left the family years ago and came out as gay. A licensed clinical social worker, Amsden said she’s going public in an attempt to sabotage his standing in the group, because her other attempts at convincing him to walk away from the far right have so far failed. “I would love to do whatever I can to out him [as a Patriot Front member] so that he can’t be a part of it,” she said. “And that they don’t want him to be a part of their group because his mom has loose lips and a big mouth and he’s never going to get away with anything.” Amsden said that after her son was released from jail, he told her he’d continue to stand with the group, so she delivered an ultimatum. “I told him, ‘Well, then you can’t live here. You can choose between Patriot Front and your family.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I can’t quit Patriot Front.’ I’m like, ‘Well, then you've just chosen. So pack your stuff and get out of my house.’” According to police, Boyce, 27, was among the men who were busted after a citizen reported a “little army” of masked men inside a U-Haul truck. (Boyce, whose Twitter bio states that he’s an “Alpha Chad,” “professional Antifa teabagger,” and “Patriot through and fucking through,” was previously exposed as a Patriot Front member in 2020. His screenname, “@PedosnJooshang,” is a variation on “Pedos and Jews Hang.”) “Officers believed it likely the intent of these individuals was to incite physical confrontation and cause disorder,” states an incident report shared with The Daily Beast by the Coeur d’Alene Police Deparment. “The U-Haul van was located and an investigative stop was conducted. A total of 31 subjects were contacted inside of the van. Based on the totality of the investigation, it was determined the subjects were part of the ‘Patriot Front’ and conspired to use violence and/or the threat of the violence to disturb the public peace. All 31 were arrested for conspiracy to riot.”
Amsden said her son told her that anonymous donors bailed him and the other suspects out of jail. When Boyce appeared at her door on Sunday, Amsden said he told her, “Don’t believe the media, mom. We were just there because they’re grooming kids.” Before heading to Idaho, Boyce told his mom that he was going camping for the weekend. Amsden, who was busy rehearsing for a local community theater production, said she “had no inkling” that anything was amiss until a news alert about the hate group’s arrests flashed on her phone. “And I saw this news story come up that said 31 members of a white supremacist group were were arrested at a rally, and I just knew—I knew he was part of it.” Amsden looked through photos of the men in matching hats and white balaclavas and believed she spotted her son. “I could tell it was him,” she said. “And I had tried calling his phone and it was just going straight to voicemail and then later I was able to access the jail website and confirm that he was one of the guys that was arrested. It’s a sick feeling.” Amsden had warned her son after previous Patriot Front trips that he’d get into trouble if he continued associating with the group.
“He’s so misguided and bought into all their rhetoric. It just makes me sick,” Amsden said, adding that she hopes his arrest is a “wake-up call” to quit.
“This is not who I raised,” she continued. “This is not the example that was set for him.”
Amsden said that since his teenage years, her son was “looking for some kind of connection” and “brotherhood.”
He landed on Patriot Front years later.
Boyce was married and living with his then-wife and their kids when he became involved with the white supremacist group around 2018, according to Amsden. She said Boyce’s spouse told her that he found the organization online, and that he “had to complete an application and send some money to join.”
Boyce began to grapple with his own internal doubts when he was 14 or so, but at that stage, dealt with it in a peaceful way, Amsden recalled. He got a tattoo of Buddha and talked about “not letting anger rule you and loving everyone,” she said.
“But he totally changed when he found this group,” Amsden continued. “I first understood how far he’d gone when he was denying the Holocaust—and one of my personal heroes is Anne Frank. And when he told me that, I thought he was kidding. Like, how can you? I just didn’t even know what to say.”
Boyce and his ex-wife share custody of their children, who Amsden described as “the light in my life.” Her grandchildren are “really the only reason” she continued her relationship with Boyce as his views became more and more repugnant, Amsden said.
Once Boyce sank deeper and deeper into white nationalism, Amsden said she began to research Patriot Front for potential clues as to why her son was so enthralled. Amsden considered calling the police to advise them of Boyce’s white nationalist leanings, but since he hadn’t committed a crime, she wasn’t sure this was the right move. Her worries came to a head with Boyce’s arrest this past weekend.
On Monday, Amsden was still trying to process the news as she prepared for Boyce to move out of her home. Boyce instructed her not to speak to the media or to the FBI, a request by which she said she has no intention of abiding.
“He actually just showed up here at my house,” Amsden said. “And it was a moment I’ve kind of dreaded because I was hoping he was going to change his attitude. But he’s not.”
Still, Amsden “just really want[s] to believe that people can change, and that he will figure it out,” she said. “But my goodness, it’s taking a long time.” Source
WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - An investigation into a blast that injured a Warren man inside his garage over the weekend has widened into a criminal probe after police uncovered guns, ammo, and evidence of the construction of bombs inside the home.
The man who was injured, identified as Michael Liburdi, suffered burns to more than half his body and lost his hand in the blast.If he survives, Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said he faces months of care in a hospital bed - as well as felony charges.
The 38-year-old was working in his garage when police were called to his home off Eight Mile and Gratiot Saturday afternoon. The blast shook the neighborhood and left the home with visible damage.
"We just heard a loud boom, we didn't know what it was," said Catherine Dubose.
"(He) came out with one finger full of blood - came out talking about 'where is my dog'" said another neighbor.
Nearby residents say the dog made it - but Liburdi lost a hand and now has several second and third-degree burns on a majority of his body.
According to Dwyer, the investigation has uncovered several alarming pieces of evidence that indicates he may have had something more sinister planned.
"What I think is alarming is you have a combination of explosive devices, he had a whole arsenal of weapons, he had 4,000 rounds of ammunition," he said.
Even more evidence was found in the home, but Dwyer said he wouldn't explain exactly what was found. Liburdi had been on a federal watch list when the blast went off, Dwyer said. The commissioner also said Liburdi may be part of a domestic terrorism probe, however he said that couldn't be proven at this time.
"All indications are that the explosives were dangerous, to be used for criminal activity. We're very fortunate there were no other injuries," he said.
The commissioner theorized Liburdi may have been in the "midst of fortifying his home." Dwyer went as far to say the explosion may have "prevented something worse," calling it a "lucky break."
Police executed a second search warrant at the individual's home Monday. Once an investigation is complete, charging documents will be sent to the Macomb County Prosecutors Office. Source

LGBTQ advocates said Sunday that polarization and a fraught political climate are putting their community increasingly at risk.Among those booked into jail on misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to riot was Thomas Ryan Rousseau of Grapevine, Texas, who has been identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as the 23-year-old who founded the group after the deadly 'Unite the Right' rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. No attorney was immediately listed for him and phone numbers associated with him went unanswered Sunday.Also among the arrestees was Mitchell F. Wagner, 24, of Florissant, Missouri, who was previously charged with defacing a mural of famous black Americans on a college campus in St. Louis last year.
Michael Kielty, Wagner's attorney, said Sunday that he had not been provided information about the charges.
He said Patriot Front did not have a reputation for violence and that the case could be a First Amendment issue.

Police Chief Lee White said officers were alerted to the group thanks to an alert citizen who “saw something” and reported it. He said they developed probable cause to arrest them based on the gear they had, which included shields and other riot gear.
Initial information shows those involved traveled to North Idaho from Texas, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Illinois, Arkansas, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon and Virginia. One person involved was from Idaho, but it was not clear from which part of the state.
Those arrested will make their first appearance in court on Monday.

More than 30 members of the white supremacist group Patriot Front were arrested near an Idaho pride event after they were found packed into the back of a U-Haul truck with riot gear.
The men were standing inside the truck wearing khakis, navy blue shirts and beige hats with white balaclavas covering their faces when Coeur d'Alene police stopped the U-Haul and began arresting them on the side of the road.
'They came to riot downtown,' Coeur d´Alene Police Chief Lee White said at a news conference. All 31 were charged with conspiracy to riot, a misdemeanor, after police received reports from residents who spotted the 'little army' getting inside the vehicle around 1.38 p.m., local news station KREM2 reported.
Those arrested came from at least 11 states, including Washington, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Illinois, Wyoming, Virginia, and Arkansas, White said. Only one was from Idaho.
The men were going through the booking process Saturday afternoon and are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, he said.
Based on evidence collected and documents, authorities found that the group was planning to riot in several areas of downtown, not just the park, White said.

A Credit Suisse director has been fired after being filmed attacking waiters at a Korean restaurant because they refused to let him use the bathroom after he stumbled in drunk at 2am.
Roman Cambell was fired from his media and information services role at the bank this week after footage of the incident was shared on social media by the restaurant owner's daughter.
The Columbia University graduate told The New York Post on Saturday that he doesn't think he did anything wrong, and that he was 'provoked' by one of the waiters 'spraining his thumb'. The damning footage shows him arriving at Shanghai Mong, an Asian fusion restaurant in Koreatown, on Saturday June 4 at 1.52am and demanding to be allowed inside to use the bathroom.
He began recording her on his phone while she spoke.
When she pulled her phone out, he smacked it out of her hand and then barged his way into the back of the restaurant.
At first, the female restaurant owner politely told him that the restrooms were for customers only. Source

A Colorado woman's son has been charged with murder after her body was found inside a trash bag and stuffed in a manhole at her home four years after she went missing.
Sylvia Frens, 82 of Grand Junction, was reported missing on May 29, 2018, by 'concerned family members,' the Grand Junction Police Department said in a statement.
Later that year, her son, Richard Vandervelde, 54 - who lived with her at the time - told them she had taken off to California with a friend. With no new address set up and no social media activities, police determined she was dead, but kept the investigation into her disappearance open. On Wednesday, police announced that detectives obtained a warrant to search the home in March 2022 after they new homeowners reported finding a trash bag in a manhole. They discovered a body had been stuffed into the bag.
Using DNA testing, they were able to confirm Frens' identity and said she died from a blunt force trauma to the head.
Her son was arrested in Florida on May 19 and was charged with six felonies and one misdemeanor and extradited to the Mesa County Jail. He has been charged with first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, identity fraud, theft of $5,000 to $20,000, motor vehicle theft, and abuse of a corpse, and crimes against an at-risk adult. A former Amazon executive who is the key suspect in his estranged wife's hit-style murder has been accused of paying $9,000 to have her killed.
Abril Pérez Sagaón was shot in the head and neck by a man on a motorcycle who opened fire through the passenger-side window where she was seated in a car while driving through Mexico City in November 2019.
Juan Carlos Garcia, who was the CEO of Amazon in Mexico when the company opened its first office in Mexico in 2015, is alleged to have paid 180,000 Mexican pesos to two sicarios, or hitmen, to carry out the killing. He is even alleged to have offered a 50,000 peso bonus - about $2,500 - if she was killed before the couple's next court hearing in a case she had filed against them.The trial for Pérez's murder began on Monday with the testimony beginning with that of the alleged hitman who claims Garcia hired him.
Pérez had already accused García of attempting to murder her while they the couple were still together.
García fled across the border to the U.S. before the trial began and is still on the run with an Interpol arrest warrant for him in 190 countries.
At the time of her murder, Pérez had a restriction order against García and moved from the capital to the northern Mexican state of Nuevo León.
Following her murder, García wrote a letter to the mayor of Mexico City protesting his innocence.
'As a father I would have never wanted for my kids to go through something like this, which has affected them and changed our lives,' García wrote to Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum. Source
POLICE are responding to a reported shooting at a manufacturing plant where multiple people are feared to have been shot.
Law enforcement officials swarmed into Columbia Machine in Smithsburg, Maryland, on Thursday afternoon following reports of an active shooting situation.According to local reports, multiple people are believed to have been injured in the incident.
Columbia Machine told The US Sun that they're working with local law enforcement officials on the situation but failed to confirm whether or not shots were fired at the Maryland location.
The company offers "complete equipment lines to customers in over 100 countries," according to their website.
Multiple calls by The US Sun to the Washington County Sheriff's Office were not immediately returned. Source

A former Amazon software engineer who allegedly stole personal data of more than 100 million credit card customers claims she was trying to expose vulnerabilities in Capital One's online system.
Paige Thompson, 36, of Seattle, is accused of hacking into Capital One's stored data and downloading private information, including bank account and social security numbers, from customers' credit card applications.
She allegedly violated the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, an anti-hacking law that forbids access to a computer without authorization, the criminal complaint states. However, her attorneys argue her actions were that of a 'novice white-hat hacker' trying who was scanning the online interface for vulnerabilities and exploring what she exposed.
Critics of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act allege the 'loose' law allows for protections for hackers who find vulnerabilities in online systems.
Thompson, whose federal trial began in Washington state on Tuesday, faces 10 counts of computer fraud, wire fraud and identity theft. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges and, if convicted, could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. Source
Armed California man, 26, charged with attempted murder for 'threatening to kill Brett Kavanaugh' because he was angry about Roe v. Wade - as protesters RETURN to Supreme Court justice's home hours after arrest
A heavily armed 26-year-old man who was detained on Wednesday near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's house allegedly told authorities he wanted to kill the conservative jurist and then himself.
Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, allegedly turned up to Kavanaugh's Maryland home with a disturbing arsenal of weapons including a handgun, tactical gear, a knife and zip ties.
He told cops he purchased the lethal equipment 'for the purpose of breaking into the justice's residence and killing the justice as well as himself,' according to court documents.
Protesters returned to Kavanaugh's home hours after the arrest on Wednesday while the FBI searched Roske's home on the West Coast.
'Roske allegedly told detectives that he was upset about the leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,' Maryland officials said. He was charged with attempted murder of a US judge and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
An accompanying court filing also states Roske was armed with a 'black tactical chest rig and tactical knife, a Glock 17 pistol with two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crow bar, pistol light, duct tape, hiking boots with padding on the outside of the soles, and other items.'
Officials suggest Roske took a taxi cab to the front of Kavanaugh's home after finding his address online.
Two Deputy US Marshals saw him exit the vehicle at 1:05 am and look their way before walking down the street.
Roske turned himself in by calling 911 while in Kavanaugh's neighborhood, and informing them that he was armed and suicidal. He told responding authorities that he wanted to kill a 'specific Supreme Court justice,' the filing states. Source
Manhunt underway in Nigeria for gunmen who killed 50 people at church
Nigerian authorities are searching for several gunmen involved in a killing spree Sunday at a Catholic church in the town of Owo that left at least 50 people dead. Witnesses said that the suspects opened fire inside and outside the building in what officials and analysts called a carefully planned attack.
“The attack is undoubtedly terrorist in nature, and the scale and brutality suggests it was carefully planned rather than impulsive,” Eric Humphery-Smith, a senior Africa analyst at Verisk Maplecroft risk intelligence consultancy, told the Associated Press.
Nigerian security forces said that explosives were used in the violent assault at St. Francis Church, but the assailants were able to escape. Local residents told Amnesty International that the attack lasted about 15 minutes before security forces responded to the scene. Source

The Daily Beast first reported the hiring of 37-year-old Brit, who posted a picture of his Congressional intern badge on top of a Louis Vuitton bag to the social media site Telegram.
Yiannopoulos resigned from his job at Breitbart News, lost a book deal and was kicked off the speaking schedule at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2017 after making remarks suggesting sex between men and boys was a good thing. He later tried to clarify the remarks, calling them 'simply wrong,' and said he was sexually abused as a child.
Since then Yiannopoulos hasn't had much of a national platform, though came out last year as 'ex-gay.'
'So I have an intern that was raped by a priest as a young teen, was gay, has offended everyone at some point, turned his life back to Jesus and Church, and changed his life,' Greene told DailyMail.com. 'Great story!' She made a nearly identical statement to The Daily Beast, though added a transphobic remark when talking to the Mail: 'If you don't want to write that, the press can go across the hall and interview Congresswoman Marie Newman on how to turn your son into a woman,' Greene said.
Newman, a Democrat from Illinois, has a transgender daughter. Last year, Newman trolled Greene by displaying a transgender flag outside her office, after the Georgia Republican spoke out against the Equality Act, saying it would force girls into sports and locker rooms with 'biological' men.
On Telegram, Yiannopoulos said he wasn't being paid to work for Greene, one of the most controversial members of the Republican Party. Source
US Military investigating whether US service member carried out an insider attack on base in Syria that injured 4 Americans
(CNN)The US military is investigating whether an American service member set off explosives in an insider attack on a small US base in northern Syria that injured four service members in April, according to three defense officials and a statement from the military.
One of the officials confirmed the suspect is no longer in Syria.
The investigation into the attack on the Green Village site is being carried out by the Army's Criminal Investigation Division and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. No one has been charged to date.
"Army CID and Air Force OSI are conducting a joint investigation of the incident. A possible suspect, a US service member, has been identified," the military said in a statement on Monday."At this point, these are just allegations, all suspects are presumed to be innocent until/unless convicted in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing, which may or may not, develop sufficient evidence to identify a perpetrator(s) and have enough evidence to ensure a conviction in a court of law. No further information will be released at this time," the statement added.
Initially, US officials said they believed the April 7 attack was caused by indirect fire on the base in a similar manner to rocket and mortar attacks that have been carried out in the region by militia groups. However, a week later, a military statement said that after "further investigation" the attack was believed to a result of "deliberate placement of explosive charges by an unidentified individual(s) at an ammunition holding area and shower facility." At least 50 feared dead in attack on Catholic church in Nigeria
At least 50 people were killed and others injured Sunday when gunmen attacked worshippers at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria, according to media reports.
A doctor at a hospital in Owo, a town in the Nigerian state of Ondo, told Reuters that no fewer than 50 bodies had been moved to the Federal Medical Center in Owo and to St. Louis Catholic Hospital.
The attack took place during a Pentecost Sunday service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, according to Ondo's governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu.
A video posted on Twitter showed graphic scenes of bodies and blood inside the church. Akeredolu said many children were among the dead."I am deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack and killing of innocent people of Owo, worshiping at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Today," the governor said in a tweet. "The vile & satanic attack is a calculated assault on the peace-loving people of Owo Kingdom who have enjoyed relative peace over the years."
A state lawmaker, Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole, told the Associated Press the attackers also detonated explosives.
The Vatican released a statement Sunday after Pope Francis learned of the attack.
“The pope learned of the attack on the church in Ondo, Nigeria, and the death of dozens of faithful, many children, during the celebration of Pentecost," the statement read. "While the details of the incident are being clarified, Pope Francis prays for the victims and for the country, painfully affected in a moment of celebration, and entrusts both to the Lord, to send his Spirit to comfort them.” Source
Pope laments terrorist attack on Catholic Church in Nigeria
Pope Francis expresses his condolences for the victims of a terror attack on a Catholic Church in Nigeria’s southwestern Ondo State which killed over 50 people, including several children.
As the Church celebrated Pentecost Sunday, gunmen entered St. Francis Xavier Church in Owo, Nigeria and opened fire on worshippers.
Initial reports suggest the attackers also set off explosives during the attack in Ondo State.
In response, Pope Francis expressed his solidarity with the victims and sent his prayers.
The Pope “prays for the victims and for the country, painfully attacked at a time of celebration, and he entrusts everyone to the Lord, that God might send His Spirit to console them,” said Matteo Bruni, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, on Sunday.
Dozens dead and wounded
Local doctors told Reuters news agency that at least 50 people were killed in the attack.
Dozens of others were wounded and taken to hospitals in Owo. Doctors have appealed for blood donations on social media.
Bishop’s closeness
Bishop Jude Ayodeji Arogundade, of the Diocese of Ondo, expressed his closeness to the victims and their families, according to Fr. Augustine Ikwu, the Communications Director for the diocese.
Fr. Ikwu said fears are rising that many more people may die from their wounds, and lamented that the Church had been "violated.”
He denied initial reports on social media that the attackers had kidnapped the priest and other members of the congregation.
“All the priests in the parish are safe and none was kidnapped,” said Fr. Ikwu in a press release. "The Bishop of the Diocese is also with them at this trying time.” He added that the Bishop also urges Catholics to “remain calm, be law abiding, and pray for peace and normalcy to return to our commuity, state, and country.”
Prayers for peace
Fr. Ikwu said the identity of the attackers remains unknown, but that Nigerian security forces have been deployed in the area surrounding the church in Owo.
He also invoked God’s help to restore “peace and tranquility” in the country.
“We turn to God to console the families of those whose lives were lost in this distressing incident, and pray for the dparted souls to rest in peace,” he said.
President Buhari’s response
Meanwhile, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari issued a statement in response to the attack.
He expressed condolences for the families of the victims, and ordered emergency agencies to assist the injured.
“No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win,” read the President’s statement. Source
