The disaster occurred at Mount Meron at the main celebrations of Lag BaOmer, a holiday when tens of thousands of people, mostly ultra-Orthodox Jews, gather to honor Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, a 2nd century sage and mystic who is buried there. Large crowds traditionally light bonfires, pray and dance as part of the celebrations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a “great tragedy,” and said everyone was praying for the victims. The incident happened after midnight, and the cause of the stampede was not immediately clear. Gunman in deadly L.A. shooting rampage had an arsenal of weapons at home, sources say 

A gunman who went on a shooting rampage in Los Angeles on Tuesday — killing two people and wounding two others — had an arsenal of weapons at his home and possessed a legally purchased AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, law enforcement sources told The Times as more details about the incident emerged. The gunman, who was fatally shot by police after a standoff on the 91 Freeway in Fullerton, was identified as Carlos Lopez, 49, by the Los Angeles Police Department. On Tuesday, LAPD officials had said they recovered a handgun they believed was used in all the shootings. Police were investigating whether the weapons found in the gunman's home were legal, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation. The man's motivation for spraying bullets at five different locations remains unclear. It does not appear that he knew the victims, sources said.The LAPD is investigating whether the shootings were hate crimes, since two of the victims were Asian — one of those who died and one who was grazed in the head by a bullet. Officers find an adult male victim who had been shot at and suffered a graze-wound to the head. The suspect was described as a male in a White Jeep, and with the help of the victim's dash cam, officers were able to send out a description and send information out to patrol units.

Shooting occurs near 28th St & Figueroa at a Starbucks drive-thru. An adult male named 24-year-old Alexis Carbaja was shot in his car which he was in with his wife. The man was pronounced dead, but his wife survived with minor injuries.

A male motorist is shot at 7th & Figueroa. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 42-year-old Mingzhi Zhu of South Pasadena, an Uber driver with two children.

After a three-hour chase, the car is disabled after spike strips are used by officers on the WB 91 Freeway at the Raymond overpass in Fullerton. SWAT officers attempt to negotiate with Lopez, but return fire when he shot through his windshield at them - killing him. Source

One deputy was flown to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. The other deputy remains on the scene, at the home. The condition of the two deputies remains unknown at this time. Filip Razvan, 31, was arrested on the morning of Sunday, April 18 after officers pursued him when he left the scene of a collision in Barking Road, Newham, which took place shortly before 9.40am. According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police, Razvan made off on foot and was followed by officers, allegedly attacking one of them with a knife before he was detained. The light blue saloon car he was driving was engaged in a collision with a white hatchback which then veered across the opposing lane and ploughed into the front of a shop. The car Razvan was driving came to a stop on the other side of the road having sustained significant damage in the collision. CCTV footage obtained by My London showed the crash take place on a bright sunny morning along the busy road, with bystanders rushing to the aid of the occupants of the white car. My London has chosen not to publish the footage but video taken by a bystander in the aftermath of the crash shows the seriousness of the incident. Razvan appeared in custody at Stratford Magistrates Court on Monday, April 19, where he was charged with the following: 

• Obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty, contrary to section 89 (2) of the Police Act 1996 Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, contrary to section 1 (1) of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953 
• Driving a motor vehicle dangerously, contrary to section 2 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 
• Attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to do grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 1 (1) of the Criminal Attempts Act 1981. 

He did not enter any pleas and was remanded in custody to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, May 17. Source

Man dies after car ploughs into pedestrian near London Underground station 

The driver of the car, a white Toyota Prius private hire vehicle, stopped at the scene A man has died after a car ploughed into a pedestrian in Westminster overnight. The 44-year-old man was walking along Harrow Road, close to Royal Oak Tube station, when a car collided with him. Emergency services, including Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics, rushed to the scene at 11.30pm on Wednesday (April 21). Cairo (CNN)At least 32 people have been killed and 165 injured after two trains collided in Egypt on Friday, according to government statements.  Seventy-two ambulances were sent to the scene and reinforcement medical teams were sent to the incident in the Tahta district of the Upper Egypt governorate of Sohag from the capital Cairo, the Health Ministry said. Health Minister Hala Zayed said in a news conference that two planes were dispatched from Cairo with 52 medical teams from various specialties on board to treat the injured. Images from the scene showed crowds of people gathered around the twisted wreckage of the trains. The collision happened after an unidentified person pulled an emergency brake, Egypt's railway authority said in a statement.  Source

HUALIEN, Taiwan (Reuters) - A Taiwan express train with almost 500 aboard derailed in a tunnel on Friday, killing at least 48 passengers and injuring 66 in the island’s worst rail disaster in almost four decades.     Images from the scene showed carriages in the tunnel ripped apart by the impact, with others crumpled, hindering rescuers in their efforts to reach passengers, although by mid-afternoon no one was still trapped.  “People just fell all over each other, on top of one another,” a woman who survived the crash told domestic television. “It was terrifying. Two men died after a Tesla 'on autopilot with no one driving' crashed into a tree in Houston before starting a huge fire that took 32,000 gallons of water to extinguish.   The fully-electric 2019 Tesla Model S slammed into the tree in Carlton Woods at around 11.25pm on Saturday night before bursting into flames with the passengers still inside.   Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said an investigation had found that 'no one was driving' when the accident happened, with one man sitting in the passenger seat at the front and the second sitting in the back. Officials told KPRC 2 that the $80,000 vehicle was moving at high speed when it failed to negotiate a cul-de-sac turn, ran off the road and crashed.   Fire fighters used 32,000 gallons of water over four hours to try to put out the flames because the car's batteries kept reigniting.   At one point, deputies had to call Tesla to ask them how to put out a fire in the battery.  Dailymail.com has contacted Tesla for comment, as officials prepare to carry out autopsies on both men. The victim cried to her mother, who took the child for an examination and doctors confirmed the abuse. Police would not comment if the suspect in Sunday's shooting was facing other criminal charges but told reporters he 'might be former law enforcement'. Broderick is considered armed and dangerous. The mass shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis was the deadliest workplace shooting in over a year, and experts warned Friday that such incidents could increase as more people return to work after a year of pandemic-induced isolation. Three FedEx employees murdered by a 19-year-old gunman who opened fire at an Indianapolis FedEx, killing eight before turning the gun on himself, have been identified. Brandon Scott Hole, of Indiana, stormed the FedEx operations center in Indianapolis on Thursday night, killing eight and injuring seven others while more than 100 people worked inside, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said. FedEx have confirmed that Hole was a former employee who last worked for them in 2020. Hole's family told Fox59 that he had previously been fired but it was not immediately clear when. His mother had reportedly called the police that year over fears her son might commit 'suicide by cop.' On Friday night, police released the names of his eight victims. They include Matthew R. Alexander, 32; Samaria Blackwell, 19; Amarjeet Johal, 66; Jaswinder Kaur, 64; Jaswinder Singh, 68; Amarjit Skhon, 48; Karlie Smith, 19; and 74-year-old John Weisert. Represe the power of my ghostly enemies, which then draw my mind from ghostly weal, to may imaginations of vanity.

With the hand of thy fervent love, then I beseech thee to take me, and strengthen me in thy power, and with thy goodness glad me.

Keep me so occupied in good works that my prayers may be acceptable to thee.
