Police arrest man, 53, and 5 others in Fares Maatou murder investigation
Police investigating the murder of 14-year-old Fares Maatou have arrested a 53-year-old man and five other men aged 15 to 30 in connection with the investigation. Teenager Fares Maatou was stabbed to death in broad daylight on Barking Road, Newham, on Friday April 23 prompting outpourings of grief and shock from the Canning Town and wider London community.The six men have been anonymised in the police report and were arrested on a variety of charges at an address in Leyton on Tuesday evening (April 27) and all remain in police custody. The 53-year-old man and four others aged between 18 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.The other suspect, aged 15, was arrested on suspicion of murder and possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs. In total, 10 people have now been arrested in connection with the murder. A 14-year-old boy has was arrested and charged with the murder on Friday. Source
