Tatiana Turner, 40, of Long Beach deliberately drove into a crowd of President Donald Trump's supporters with the intent to kill the woman and also seriously injured a man who broke his leg, Orange County prosecutors said. 'She positioned her vehicle to be used as a backup weapon and she used that vehicle as a deadly weapon, willing to injure and kill those who stood in her way,' District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement. But a defense lawyer said Turner tried unsuccessfully to get help from cops Saturday in Yorba Linda after her group was overwhelmed by a hostile crowd. Turner saw people with guns and feared for her life when she got into her car that was blocked by Trump supporters, attorney Ludlow Creary II said. Source

SAN ANTONIO – A man armed with a baseball bat damaged five glass doors and an outdoor crucifix Thursday night at the San Antonio Archdiocese Assumption Seminary, officials said.  According to a news release, the man was seen around 10 p.m. walking up to a dormitory building in the 2600 block of West Woodlawn Avenue and repeatedly striking the glass doors at the Discernment House. By the time police arrived, the man was gone, the news release said. :  In addition to the shattered doors, a jersey was found around the head of the crucifix and one of the feet was broken. No injuries were reported.  “First and foremost, all of our seminarians and all the people at the seminary are safe,” seminary rector Father Hy Nguyen said. “We ask for your prayers for this misguided person, and for the safety of the Assumption community.”  Police are investigating.  The seminary is where men are trained to become Catholic priests. TOWN 'N COUNTRY — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who broke into Incarnation Catholic Church in Town 'N Country and lit several pews on fire. 

Deputies released surveillance video in hopes someone might recognize the suspect. The man appears to be wearing long pants, white sneakers and a surgical mask, but no shirt. 

The break-in at the church, off West Hillsborough Avenue at 5124 Gateway Dr., occurred at 10:36 p.m. Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. 

The man hurled items to break a glass pane on the west doors of the church and appeared to have a large bottle in his hands when he entered. 

Video surveillance shows him pouring liquid onto three wooden pews, setting them fire and running away as flames quickly erupt. He was in the church no more than three minutes and left through the church’s east entrance, apparently without taking anything.  Source

$100K reward announced in search for man who shot 2 L.A. County sheriff’s deputies in Compton

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday announced a $100,000 reward in the search for a man who shot and injured two deputies in an apparent ambush caught on video. The attack happened around 7 p.m. Saturday across from the Blue Line Metro station at 275 N. Willowbrook Ave., according to the Sheriff’s Department. Surveillance video released by the agency shows a person walking up to the passenger side of a parked patrol vehicle before appearing to open fire and running away. Sheriff Alex Villanueva identified the deputies as a 31-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, who were both sworn in just 14 months ago and worked with the department’s Transit Services Bureau. At least one of them was shot in the face and the other in the head, law enforcement sources told the L.A. Times. “These are real people doing a tough job, and it just shows the dangers of the job, in the blink of an eye,” Villanueva said in a news conference late Saturday. Source

A suspect was arrested after using a Molotov Cocktail to start a small brush fire.

On Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 4:35p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to assist Portland Fire and Rescue with a brush fire in the 9600 block of East Burnside Street. Officers saw that a section of grass along the I-205 freeway was burning. Firefighters extinguished the fire. No one was injured and no structures were damaged.

About an hour later, East officers were flagged down by a witness who pointed out the suspect in a nearby tent. Officers arrested the suspect, who confirmed he lit the fire with the device.

Officers seized a plastic bottle with a wick as evidence (photos).

Officers booked Domingo Lopez Jr., 45, into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Reckless Burning and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. Arson investigators are also doing follow-up to see if other charges are warranted. Source

2 LA County deputies 'fighting for their lives' after ambush shooting; Search for suspect underway 

Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies were shot at a Metro station in Compton Saturday evening, officials say.

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A massive search for a gunman is underway as two Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies are "fighting for their lives" after they were shot in the head in an ambush at the Metro station in Compton, officials say.

The incident happened Saturday at the Metro Blue Line station at Willowbrook Avenue and Compton Boulevard around 7 p.m. The location is a short distance from the Compton sheriff's station.

Surveillance video of the shooting shows the suspect ambush the deputies as they sat in the patrol vehicle.

A man clad in dark clothing walks up to the parked vehicle at the Metro station, approaches the window on the passenger's side and fires several times at close range. The suspect then runs off on foot. One deputy is seen emerging from the passenger side and stumbling around on foot for several seconds before the video ends.

Both deputies sustained multiple gunshot wounds and underwent surgery at a local hospital. They were described as alive but in critical condition.

"That was a cowardly act," Sheriff Alex Villanueva said. "The two deputies were doing their job, minding their own business, watching out for the safety of the people on the train."

"To see somebody just walk up and start shooting on them. It pisses me off. It dismays me at the same time. There's no pretty way to say it." Source

Sheriff: 4 fatalities confirmed from Almeda Fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people have died in the Almeda Fire, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday night. While that figure is confirmed, it is still a preliminary number as recovery teams continue to sift through the neighborhoods damaged by the fire. The Almeda Fire left a trail of devastation behind in Southern Oregon. Hundreds of homes and businesses across Talent and Pheonix were destroyed and much of the area remains under a Level 3 evacuation order.Initially, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said dozens of people were listed as missing. By Saturday night, the sheriff’s office revised that figure to just one missing person. “There were approximately 50 persons being sought as missing related to the fire as of this morning. This afternoon that number was reportedly at zero. But Detectives have updated that and believe there is at least one person still unaccounted for. This number fluctuates with the potential for more as yet unreported missing persons being reported.” For residents in the area, there’s little left to do but try and pick up the pieces. Man charged with arson in connection with Almeda Fire in southern Oregon

A man was arrested on arson charges Friday for allegedly setting a fire earlier this week in southern Oregon, while the region was already beset with the Almeda Fire. Michael Jarrod Bakkela, 41, was charged with two counts of arson, along with 15 counts of criminal mischief and 14 counts of reckless endangering.On Tuesday, residents called 911 after seeing a man light a fire behind their house in Phoenix around 5 p.m. local time, police said. The witnesses had fled their home "due to the impending fire," the sheriff's office said. When Oregon State Police troopers and Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, Bakkela "was standing close to a very large fire threatening several homes," the sheriff's office alleged. High bail for suspect who live-streamed fire he allegedly set 

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The Puyallup man suspected of setting fire to the dry brush along Highway 167 two days ago was in court today. 

Police say he called 911, waited for them to arrive and live-streamed the entire incident. The judge said he would not release him on bail, as he is also suspected of burglary.

It was a subdued Jeffrey Alan Acord who faced a Pierce County judge, claiming that he saw flames along Highway 167 and called 911.

Other drivers, however,, told police they watched the 36-year-old Puyallup man walk into a field carrying a lighter and cardboard.

In court, Acord readily answered Judge Jerry Costello’s questions and continued to speak.

“The court has found probable cause to believe that Mr. Acord is,” said the judge, his voice trailing off.

“It was a mistake, sir,” said Acord. “I thought I would offer that.”

“Well, Mr. Acord, it’s not my role today to decide whether these facts can be proven,” said Judge Costello. “But I have concluded that probable cause supports this charge.”

A regular attendee at Seattle “defund police” rallies, Acord faced a similar charge in 2014, arrested for allegedly putting a road flare under a car during a protest in Seattle.

Officers said they found a knife, a loaded handgun without a permit, an assault rifle and a large amount of fireworks.

Acord also faces a second charge for allegedly breaking into a gas station hours after his initial release for reckless burning.

Still, his lawyer argued that with his minimal criminal history, he should be released.

The judge disagreed.

“I have strong concerns about the safety of the community,” said Judge Costello.

With that, he ordered Acord to be held on $150,000 bail.

Despite what his lawyer said, court records show Acord has a long criminal history.

He faces seven other cases from this year alone.

Suspect in Fatal Portland Shooting Is Killed by Officers During Arrest

Law enforcement agents killed Michael Forest Reinoehl while trying to arrest him, four officials said. He was being investigated in the fatal shooting of a supporter of a far-right group.

LACEY, Wash. — Law enforcement agents shot and killed an antifa supporter on Thursday as they moved to arrest him in the fatal shooting of a right-wing activist who was part of a pro-Trump caravan in Portland, Ore., officials said.

The suspect, Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was shot by officers from a federally led fugitive task force during the encounter in Washington State, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

“Initial reports indicate the suspect produced a firearm, threatening the lives of law enforcement officers,” the Marshals Service said in a statement. “Task force members responded to the threat and struck the suspect who was pronounced dead at the scene.” Source
