Protestant Pastor Comes Out As Transgender To Congregation In ZOOM Sermon

Ontario pastor comes out to congregation as transgender during sermon

TORONTO -- An Ontario pastor who came out to her congregation as a transgender woman last month says she hopes her sermon will inspire others to feel accepted and embrace their own "truth." Junia 'June' Joplin, the lead pastor at Lorne Park Baptist Church in Mississauga, Ont., came out to her congregation in an online sermon on June 14. "I want you to hear me when I tell you that I'm not just supposed to be a pastor. I'm supposed to be a woman. My friends, my family, my name is Junia. You can call me June. I'm a transgender woman and my pronouns are she and her," Joplin said during the sermon delivered via Zoom amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Source

  1. I listened to the sermon by Rev. Joplin, and was impressed with her sincerity, courage, faithfulness, and generosity of spirit. My prayers are with her, and with her former congregation, as they move apart. The vote in the congregation that resulted in the termination of Rev. Joplin's contract was very close, with only a 52% majority in favour of her departure from the pulpit. You can hear the sermon for yourself by following this link :https://youtu.be/S_VFXQXh2Xo
